Overview

The Voting Rights and Democracy Forum seeks dedicated 2L and 3L, 3LE, 4LE, and LLM students in Law School to join the Volume IV staff for the 2025-26 academic year. Students who join our staff will gain editorial experience and have the opportunity to write and submit their own pieces for publication. They will also join a community of scholars committed to amplifying issues central to our democracy.

This is a defining moment for democratic institutions. With gerrymandering, voter suppression, and judicial rollbacks threatening foundational institutions, our work has never been more relevant. That’s why the Forum publishes timely, accessible legal commentary on voting rights, democratic governance, and the legal institutions that support (or undermine) them.

As a staff editor, you’ll sharpen your Bluebooking and legal editing skills, gain exposure to public law scholarship, and join a team committed to amplifying the most urgent issues facing our democracy today. Your time commitment will be low (~10 hours/semester), but the impact is substantial.

To enable us to produce high-quality scholarship, the Forum selects staff members through an independent competitive process designed to recruit dedicated, talented students from a diversity of backgrounds with a demonstrated interest in the Forum‘s specialty areas of focus. We also encourage the innovative and responsible use of AI-assisted editing tools, in line with our mission to modernize legal publishing and expand access to legal discourse.

How to Apply

• Our Fall round of Staff Member applications will be open on Monday, August 18 and due Monday, September 1, 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • You may submit your materials at any point before the due date to receive equal consideration.
  • Applications will remain anonymous to the grader.
• The application consists of (1) a short Bluebooking exercise and (2) an under 250 word interest or diversity statement.
