To train the next generation of lawyers in the law and practice of voting rights, ballot access, campaign finance, election administration, and democracy protection.
Launched in 2022, Fordham University School of Law’s Voting Rights and Democracy Project is a nonpartisan initiative to prepare students to advise clients, litigate, reform laws and regulations, and provide a platform for discussing important issues in our democracy. The Project sponsors election-related classes and seminars, hosts panel discussions on constitutional and voting rights issues, and works to place students in government and nonprofit organizations. The Project’s Director is Jerry H. Goldfeder, an award-winning Adjunct Professor at Fordham Law, Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Task Force on Voting Rights and Democracy, and an election lawyer at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, LLP.
The Project is home to the Voting Rights and Democracy Forum. The Forum is an online publication that examines cutting-edge issues affecting democratic institutions, government, and racial justice. Visit the Forum’s latest Issue and Commentary for the most recent discussions. To offer a submission, please see the Forum’s submissions page. The Forum hosts a Resources page that provides succinct explanations and has helpful links on important topics. Designed to educate the community’s understanding of election law and public policy, the Forum’s Resources page serves as a reference for law students and legal practitioners.
